Adios, training wheels

A few new updates from this week...

Evelyn just decided last week that she wanted her training wheels off. Right then. No discussion. So we took them off, expecting her to endure a few falls and bruises while she learned to balance.

Nope. That girl wanted to ride with her friends down the street, so off she went. Eli worked with her for about 2 minutes and I went inside to grab the phone.

By the time I came back out to the driveway, she was off and running with the neighborhood gang of elementary kids. We probably should have taken the wheels off a long time ago, but she didn't ask, so we didn't push. Guess maybe it's like potty training....don't bring it up and wait for them to ask! Sure made it easy for everyone!

The kids both visited their new dentist this week. Talk about a fantastic place! This was Finley's first visit to the dentist, so I was worried about how he'd do. I took him once to a dentist back in Arkansas, but he was uncooperative and determined to let the whole office hear his protests, so they politely asked us if we'd like to return in a year or so and try again. I didn't attempt again until last week. A year makes a big difference and he was ready this time around. He didn't want to lay on the chair for the cleaning, so they worked around the best they could while he laid on his stomach. Hey, whatever works at this point is good with me. He was a trooper and loved his day at the dentist. Of course, it didn't hurt that the kids got to watch Bolt on the big screen and the staff gave the kids a goodie bag full of stuff, a balloon and ice cream on the way out.
