Tubes!

After years of countless ear infections, F finally had tubes put in last Friday morning. It's definitely a different thing than it was 30 years ago when I had mine put in. No longer requiring an overnight stay followed by gummy plastic red and blue earplugs, the modern procedure takes no more than 60 minutes from check-in to check-out.

He was a trooper, but wasn't thrilled when the nurse came to take him to the OR. I could hear him howling all the way to the operating room and then the silence told me that they knocked him out quick. Five minutes later, I could hear him screaming again, and I knew he was done and would be back on my lap soon. Ten minutes later we were in the car, on the way home by 9AM.
