Modern technology

Today I was sitting at the table paying some bills when E came in carrying a VHS tape from the storage cabinet.

E: Mom, what's this?
ME: It's a VHS tape.
E: A what?
ME: A VHS tape. You know, a movie.
E: But how does it work?
ME: It's kind of like a DVD.It came before the DVD.
E: Before the DVD? Like a long time ago? How do you watch it?
ME: With a VCR.
E: A what?

Suddenly, I feel like I'm a hundred years old.

Fortunately (? I guess)- my kids do know what VHS and VCR's are. HOWEVER- lately Gavin been prefacing statements/ questions with: "Mom, in the olden days..." To which I reply- I DO NOT KNOW, I DID NOT LIVE IN THE OLDEN DAYS!
